Tania Mackie, Contemporary Artist
Tania Mackie, Contemporary Artist
Tania Mackie is a contemporary artist whose work embodies the spirit of the landscape, bringing together unique perspectives, colour and creativity.
Tania captures the dynamic light and wide open skies in her sketches and paintings. As a sea kayaker and adventurer, she translates moments in time onto canvas in her studio, favouring oil paints, watercolours and gouache, often painting plein air.
Tania's background as an archaeological illustrator informs her intricate style, characterised by lines, layers and shapes. Tania finds mindfulness and joy in her art, aiming to share the movement of nature with others. Wassily Kandinsky believed that colour and form could evoke deep emotional responses, a principle that Tania embraces in her own artistic practice, striving to create works that resonate with viewers on a personal and visceral level.
"Painting to me is the glimmer of the sun reflecting off the sea; the wind casting its energy across the sands; a storm cloaking the sky in grey, an endless palette of colours of which to paint" Tania Mackie
Tania lives in Cromarty, a picturesque village located on the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands, known for its charming harbour and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The area is often mentioned in the shipping forecast, reflecting its maritime significance and the dynamic sea conditions that define life along the coast. Her art invites viewers to explore the intersection of innovation and emotion, making it a genuine reflection of the ever-changing sea, mountains, and landscapes of Scotland.
Tania is known for her engaging art exhibitions that showcase her unique perspective and artistic style. Her works often explore themes of nature, emotion, and the human experience, reflecting a deep connection to her surroundings.
Tania offers workshops from her studio in Cromarty and online, providing opportunities for individuals to explore their creativity through group sessions or one-to-one guidance. These workshops are designed to cater to all skill levels, encouraging participants to develop their artistic abilities while enjoying a supportive and inspiring environment.
Personal commissions are undertaken, allowing you to collaborate with Tania to create a piece that is uniquely yours.
