The ‘Ladies Walk’ is a route that takes you above and behind Cromarty into the woods with views across the fields and then towards the sea. This painting was inspired by sketches I made looking across the summer fields to the horizon beyond. A field on the edge and above the Firth.

As the November sun shone and the dusk started gradually to creep in, the most beautiful purple and pink light began to appear. We had had lots of different clouds over the weeks before and the pinks of the cloud formations really turned the landscape a beautiful colour.
